consultations via telephone. A consultation involves talking generally about
the legal problem and identifying a general sense of the work involved to
achieve the best possible outcome.
Ms. Burke offers in person meetings by appointment as the next step in the process.
Client and potential client meetings take place at Ms. Burke's downtown Seattle conference space or as
otherwise arranged.

Hiring Liza Burke:
Representation commences once a
written fee agreement is executed and payment arrangements are made.
Fees:
Liza Burke's fee structures vary
by the case. Depending upon the case, fees may be reasonable hourly rates
depending upon the anticipate demands and timeline of the case, flat fee all
inclusive arrangements or hybrid arrangements. Ms. Burke's goal is to tailor
fees to fairly capture the level of service and work provided and the value
conferred to her client.
Fees vary because they always depend on the
seriousness of the matter at stake, the timing and expediency of the case, the
anticipated volume and complexity of work, the desired results and other client
expectations.
Ms. Burke was appointed by the
2005 WSBA president to serve on the Washington State Bar Association's Trust
Account Responsibilities and Retainers Task Force which made recommendations
regarding the ethical setting and handling of attorney fees and attorneys'
duties to clients related to fees. The work of the task force ultimately
resulted in a modification to the Rules of Professional Conduct governing
attorneys fees. Ms. Burke is proud of her involvement in this effort and
continue to strive provide clients with reasonable fees.
Ms. Burke's fees are generally
below other attorneys who are based out of downtown Seattle or working in firm
settings.
Reduced Fee Options - Limited
Scope Representation
Ms. Burke offers limited scope
representation in school discipline matters. This usually means her client
proceeds pro se (without counsel) in the hearing or in communications with the
school, but that Ms. Burke provides advice, legal research and other
specifically designated support roles as agreed upon with my client in advance. Limited scope representation can assist a parent and student in navigating
through school discipline proceedings without breaking the bank. In this way,
clients can control fees and savings can be 1/3 or greater than the total fees
for comprehensive full scope representation.
